SUMMARY:HERITAGE OPEN DAYS | Willow Weaving Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Try your hand at the traditional craft of willow weaving in this interactive workshop. \n\n\n\n\nAs part of Knutsford’s Heritage Open Days\, try your hand at the traditional craft of willow weaving in this interactive workshop. Learn basic weaving techniques and create your own handmade piece while discovering a craft that has been part of everyday life for centuries. \nThere is something deeply rooted within us that longs to create\, to bring something into the world using our own two hands. Weaving is one of the oldest crafts in human history and evidence of early weaving practices\, pre-dating the Paleolithic era\, has been found all around the world. \nIt is so much a part of our ancestral heritage that it can feel more like a ‘remembering’\, rather than a ‘learning’. \nOur workshops give you the chance to try this ancient craft for yourself\, to learn new skills and take home something beautiful and handmade that you can be proud of. \nYou will find a warm and welcoming space and a friendly and supportive group within which to rest and to create . \nWhile this workshop is suitable for beginners\, working with willow can be hard on the hands and does require a good level of hand strength and dexterity. \nKnutsford Market Hall is wheelchair accessible and has a disabled toilet. \nBooking required – please book via the eventbrite link below.
